Modern Bright Living Room / See and Savour

After our kitchen and bathroom renovations, we took a step back from all the house projects to just relax and take everything in. I’ve been itching to get back to work on new updates for our home, so when Room & Board agreed to help us tackle our living room we were thrilled!

You can see a before photo and the floor plan of our tiny but mighty home below. Our whole house is around 950 sq ft. We purchased our home with the intention of eventually expanding our living room and building on a bedroom and bathroom, but until that actually happens we’re happy with the minor cosmetic changes we’ve made so far. We removed the crown molding, got rid of the textured walls and ceilings and painted the french doors black. Whew! What a difference a little paint can make!

We already owned a few staple pieces we loved from our past apartment and despite my desire for a new all-white sofa, my husband was ready for something a little more forgiving. He was also really hoping for a recliner (of course)! Room & Board does have a beautiful collection of modern recliners but due to the layout of our living room, we compromised with the Cade sofa with chaise lounger. We chose the Tepic Cement color which is a perfect light gray bright enough to feel light but that also has Revolution Performance Fabric with Greenguard Gold Certification, making it durable and stain resistant too! We are completely obsessed and love the fact that we can now both lay down on each end of the sofa without interfering with one another :P.

We kept our original Grove Coffee Table and Media Console – but lightened up the floor with the Safi Rug. The Otis Swivel Chair added the perfect pop of color while providing some additional seating. We installed a Stairway Wall Mounted Bookcase to display books that have been following me in boxes over the years and ceramic pieces I have been collecting as well. I can’t wait to style the shelves up even more over time!

Small Space Living Room / See and Savour

We added a gallery wall with some personal prints and Art from Minted. I’d love to eventually get a Samsung Frame TV or mount the TV to the wall and hide the TV behind a tapestry like what Kristin did here. We do have a ton of electronics hiding behind the TV – a small server, wifi router, and extenders that can’t be in an enclosed space. Do you guys have any suggestions on where to put those?! We are so thrilled with the space and excited to spend more time here and host friends for movie nights. Thank you Room & Board for partnering with us!
