In April we headed on a short three day road trip to Big Sur (more on this soon!) but on our way up we stopped in Pismo Beach to explore the sand dunes. I’ve seen a few friends post about the dunes and it looked like a magical place close to LA. I haven’t yet had the pleasure of visiting White Sands National Park but I imagine Pismo Beach Sand Dunes is a small little taste of what it would be like. To get to the dunes you can park your car outside the beach and walk from Grand Avenue South towards the dunes – it’s probably a 30 minute walk or if you have a 4×4 you can also drive onto the beach directly to the dunes.
The Pismo Beach Sand Dunes are one of the last coastal sand dunes that are open to Off-Highway Vehicles – so you can find a lot of ATV’s here for rental should you decide you want to adventure on wheels.
