One of my favorite things about school was all the new back to school supplies – as an adult I still get really excited about binders, folders and notepads. When I heard that See Jane Work had a line at Office Depot I was thrilled. New year means it’s time to get all my business tax papers in line from 2013 and start new folders for 2014. Today is the day, to get it done. (And to start all those resolutions you’ve made!) Here are some things I like to do to keep myself organized.
Clean and clear your desk. I always try to start my day with a clean desk, though it tends to get messy as I work through the day. I think a clean desk makes for a less anxiety filled day. If you have a ton of important papers put them into binders or properly labeled folders. If you don’t need the hard copy – SCAN everything and save it on a hard drive.
Keep only what you need. On the same note of keeping your desk clean and clear. Don’t leave anything on your desk that you don’t use on a daily basis.
File receipts. I keep all important receipts in one of these expanding cases labeled by the month.
Keep desktop accessories to a minimum. As tempting as it is to buy those cute trays and organizing boxes – try to keep those at a minimum. I’ve found that those boxes just helped me save more clutter because it was hidden even though I didn’t really need it.
