i think one of my favorite things i’ve ever ate was a pain au jambon aka ham and cheese croissant from tartine bakery it’s absolutely amazing, heaven in your mouth. it’s filled with layers and layers of goodness i mean look at this. i am surprised i’ve never done a post on tartine’s pain au jambon, i guess because i’m too busy eating to take lots of photos… but anyhow this post isn’t about tartine its about b. patisserie.
b. patisserie is a fairly new pastry shop in san francisco’s pacific height neighborhood. the shop is adorable and of course filled with decadent eats which i had to try… we ordered a tartine, kouign amann, valhrona chocolate cookie, and the grande macaron. everything was really tasty but the star was the kouign amann (pronounced queen ahman) – it’s a round cake made with bread dough, filled with layers of butter and sugar. the flavors inside reminded me of when my grandmother used to put butter and sugar on baguettes for me when i visited her in france. the kouign amann from b. patisserie is simply wonderful, definitely one of the best pastries i’ve had!
oh and if you are feeling extra ambitious, you can try making your own…. but man this looks intense.
